The Marion Common Council proceeded with the second reading of proposed regulation that would require council approval for certain expenditures out city funds at its regular meeting Tuesday.

These caps would limit spending by Mayor Jess Alumbaugh and his administration to under $5,000 at a time out of many of the city’s general fund budgets unless it is approved by council. Salary, benefits and insurance expenditures, as well as all expenditures from city hall maintenance, information technology, board of aviation, fire and police departments would be excluded from any limitations.
