After a holiday season spent gathering donations through the annual red kettle drive, the local Salvation Army took a major step forward in its overall donations this past year.

Marion Salvation Army Lt. Jessica Smith said the Salvation Army had set two goals for the year. The first was a goal of $50,000 to be raised through the red kettle donations, while the second was a total goal of $120,500 raised including all donations made through in-person or mail-in donations.
