Woman arrested for shooting car

A woman was arrested on charges of intimidation and criminal mischief Wednesday night.

Marion Police Department officers responded to 911 call at 1116 N. Quarry Rd. after reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, police learned that Ja Ria Shaw, 29, of Marion, had a dispute with her partner, Tirell Styles, 31, of Marion.

MPD Deputy Chief Stephen Dorsey stated that Shaw was on the telephone with Styles who informed her that he did not feel well and intended to go to sleep. Shaw then appeared where Styles resides and watched Christina Anderson, 22, of Marion, park and enter the back of the residence.

Upon seeing Anderson and Styles in the residence, Shaw knocked on a back window, causing it to break, suffering minor lacerations in the process. Anderson was reportedly instructed to lock herself in a bathroom where she proceeded to call 911.

According to Dorsey, Shaw fired four rounds out of a 9mm Taurus handgun, with two rounds striking Anderson’s silver 2001 Buick. Although four shell casings were found and two shots located, there was no report of any other structures being struck.

“Four shells were recovered and Shaw was arrested on charges of intimidation and criminal mischief,” Dorsey said.

Dorsey also stated that, aside from Shaw’s minor lacerations from the broken glass, there were no injuries to report.

According to Grant County Jail records, Shaw was released on a cash bond and is awaiting trial.
