Community leaders took time during the weekly COVID-19 press conference Wednesday to speak about another epidemic facing the country: racism and injustice, recently evidenced by the death of George Floyd while in Minneapolis police custody.

Grant County Health Officer William David Moore said while there is no excuse for looting and other violence that has sprung up around some protests around the country, the Minneapolis officers’ actions that led to Floyd’s death represented a “gross injustice.”
