A murder-suicide involving two Grant County residents happened Monday around 6 p.m. at Casey’s General Store in Greentown, according to the Howard County Sheriff’s Office.
Kimberly N. Butler-Wilson, 39, of Sweetser and Timothy W. Glassburn, 42, of Converse were pronounced dead at the scene around 7 p.m. by the Howard County Coroner’s Office, according to a HCSO press release. The pair reportedly died of visible gunshot wounds.
Police responded within five minutes to find both occupants slumped over inside a silver 2012 Dodge Journey.
Detectives say Glassburn arrived in a silver 2001 Dodge Ram at the convenience store at approximately 5:20 p.m. and parked next to Butler-Wilson’s vehicle. Investigators say they know Glassburn and Butler-Wilson were “acquaintances” but are unsure why they met at the store.
“Within the course of the next several minutes, Timothy shoots and kills Kimberly inside the parked vehicle before turning the gun on himself,” HCSO Cpt. Jordan J. Buckley wrote in his release.
An autopsy performed Tuesday ruled the incident a homicide, and the coroner’s office has ruled the gunshot wounds as the cause of death.
The case is still under investigation by the HCSO, Greentown Police Department and the coroner’s office, officials said.
