Woman arrested after hit-and-run

A Marion woman was arrested after striking a parking enforcement officer for the Marion Police Department in the Walmart parking lot Thursday, according to MPD Capt. Stephen Dorsey. Dorsey said the woman was parked in a handicapped spot and became “belligerent” when the officer asked for her registration. The woman backed up her car, striking the officer in the leg, police said. The woman, Mariah Keys, 19, was arrested on a charge of leaving the scene of a personal injury accident. Dorsey said handicap registration must be in your vehicle and a handicap placard must be visible when parking in a handicapped parking spot.
