Happenings at MPL

Library Hours: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Museum closes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 5:30 p.m. and is open Tuesdays and Thursdays until 8 p.m. The Library and Museum is open on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Library and Museum will be open to the public from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Library and Museum will be closed on Friday, April 19 and Sunday, April 21.

Come visit the museum: on the main floor there is a case of Barbie dolls and a case with books by Kin Hubbard who published several books about “Abe Martin,” a comic strip published from 1904-1930 in the Indianapolis News. The theme of most of the strips was Brown County, Indiana. There are also cases in the lobby with a collection of banks, and also a case with a space shuttle launch center with figures of the astronauts.

Read to the Dogs: Tuesday, April 16 at 5:30 p.m. Children’s/Youth Services. Children may choose a book and read to a therapy dog. Registration encouraged.

Library Board Meeting: Tuesday, April 16 at 6 p.m. Israel Conference Room.

Family, Food and Fun: Wednesday, April 17 at 4:30 p.m. Children’s Activity Room. Join us for family fun activities. Make a Peeps diorama and taste test different flavors of Peeps. Sign up in Children’s/Youth Services or by calling 765-668-2900 ext. 1105.

Grant County Fiber Arts Guild: Saturday, April 20, 1 to 3 p.m. Forrest Room. Open to anyone with an interest in fiber arts. Must have tools and at least beginning skills. Call Sue Bratton, 765-668-2900 ext. 1145 for further information.

Lego Club: Saturday, April 20 at 11 a.m. and Monday, April 22 at 4 p.m. Meeting Room B. Build your own Lego creation to put on display. For children ages 4 and up. Sign up in Children’s/Youth Services or by calling 765-668-2900 ext. 1105.

Preschool Tales: Mondays, April 22 and 29 at 10:30 a.m. Children’s Activity Room. This program features stories, songs and activities for preschoolers ages 3 – 6 years. Please register in Children’s/Youth Services or call 668-2900 ext. 1105.

Sensory Tales: Tuesdays, April 23 and 30 and Wednesday, April 24 at 10:30 a.m. Children’s Activity Room. This hands-on program encourages creative play for preschoolers ages 3 -6 years. Please register in Children’s/Youth Services or call 668-2900 ext. 1105.

Let’s Knit and Crochet: Thursdays, 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Forrest Room on the Museum. Let’s Knit and Crochet is open to adults. All skill levels are welcome. The fee for beginners is $15 to cover the cost of materials for the first project. Beginners must register at Reference Services the Monday before starting. Registration is not necessary for others.

Wee Tales: Friday, April 26 at 10:30 a.m. This interactive program is packed with books, movement and music for infants to 3 year olds. Please register in Children’s/Youth Services or call 668-2900 ext. 1105.

Pokemon Club: Saturday, April 27 at 3 p.m. Children’s Activity Room. You want to be the very best? Join the club to play or learn how. For Pokemon trainers in grades 2 through 6. Bring your own deck or use one of ours.

The Connector Display Case: features Prevent Child Abuse, Grant County and First Light Child Advocacy Center.

The 2nd floor Reference Area: will feature the Spring Art Show from the Grant County Art Association.
