Jonesboro egg hunt

The City of Jonesboro is holding its first annual free community Easter egg hunt this Saturday at Jonesboro Park, 217 W. Sixth St., Jonesboro. The hunt starts at 11 a.m. and is for ages 12 and under. There will be a surprise visit and gifts from the Easter Bunny. For more information, call the city offices at 765-674-1196.

Inmate dies after being found unresponsive in jail cell

WARSAW (AP) — A 42-year-old inmate has died after being found unresponsive in his northwestern Indiana jail cell.

State police say cardiopulmonary resuscitation was performed on Christopher Hinson after he was discovered about 1 p.m. Monday at the Kosciusko County Jail in Warsaw. He later was pronounced dead at Kosciusko Community Hospital.

Hinson of North Webster was being held on methamphetamine possession and distribution charges.

State police are investigating Hinson’s death. Results of an autopsy were pending.

Authorities: Human foot found in NW Indiana pond

CROWN POINT (AP) — Authorities say a human foot has been found in a pond in northwestern Indiana.

The (Northwest Indiana) Times reports police responded Monday afternoon in Crown Point after a fisherman reported snagging what appeared to be a human foot. Crown Point police Chief Pete Land says in a statement that officers on the scene confirmed the remains were human.

The Lake County coroner’s office said late Monday that remains had been found. Law enforcement officials returned to the area Tuesday to search the pond.
