Scoops: IWU - Rescue Mission partnership

New IWU partnership

The Fort Wayne Rescue Mission and Indiana Wesleyan University have announced a partnership that will provide residents, staff and the community with access to introductory college courses.

According to Donovan Coley, the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission CEO, the Rescue Mission plans to open a new 80,000 square foot facility in the summer of 2020 which will partner with 16 different agencies, with the connecting point being IWU.

Though the partnership has already begun and some staff members are enrolled in classes for their master’s degrees, residents will be able to enroll in the courses in 2020 as part of the five phase recovery program at the Rescue Mission. The residents must complete phase three in order to qualify and will receive a 20 percent tuition scholarship to attend.
