Two suspects were arrested Monday in connection with a homicide that occurred Saturday night at Luida Trailer Park in Marion.

A 65-year-old Marion woman, Cheryl Mann, died of a single gunshot wound to the head, according to Marion Police Department Deputy Chief Stephen Dorsey.

Her grandson, Jonathan Lovell, 30, was injured in the arm and leg by the gunfire but was in stable condition, according to press release from MPD sent on Sunday afternoon.

Police were called to the scene at 2743 W. 17th St., Lot 36, at 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

Dorsey could not release any details about how police believe the shooting occurred.

On Sunday, Lovell was cooperating with investigators and speaking with detectives about a possible motive for the shooting, Dorsey said.

Then, early Monday morning, Marion police arrested Christa Lea Kelly, also known as Christa Goins, 32, and William Robert McCarty, 32, both of Marion, in the parking lot of Chambers Park Apartments, 4343 S. Lincoln Blvd., after being tipped off to their whereabouts.

Both Kelly and McCarty are facing charges of murder, a Level 1 felony, attempted murder, a Level 1 felony, conspiracy to commit murder, a Level 1 felony, and battery by means of a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony.

Dorsey said the shooting appears to have stemmed from an argument between Lovell, Kelly and McCarty.

Police also said a 13-year-old boy was asleep in the trailer when the shooting took place but was not injured.

Kelly is being held in the Grant County Jail without bond. McCarty has not been booked into the jail yet but is expected to be held without bond, Dorsey said.
