Norma D. Krieg Sept. 2, 1933 - Jan. 28, 2019

Mrs. Norma D. Krieg, 85, of Galesburg, Illinois, formerly of Indiana, entered eternity with her Lord and Savior at 4:07 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2019, at Galesburg Cottage Hospital. She is now celebrating with loved ones that have gone before her.

She was born Sept. 2, 1933, in St. Joseph County, the daughter of Earl and Rose Bickel Surface. She married the Rev. Dean Krieg on Sept. 4, 1953, in Warren. Her greatest role besides wife and mother was serving the Lord alongside her husband in pastoral ministry until his death on April 14, 1978.

Norma is survived by her children, Judith (Richard) Schilg of Westerville, Ohio, Pamela (T.J.) Green of Galesburg, Illinois, and Michael Krieg of Rushville, Illinois; four grandchildren, Kylie (fiancé David Spencer) Markin of Tacoma, Washington, Rick (Taran) Schilg of Johnstown, Ohio, Katie (Robert) Withrow of Island Lake, Illinois, and Matthew Green of North Liberty, Iowa; six great-grandchildren, J.R., Liam, Xander and Xavier Schilg and Avery and Lily Withrow and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her siblings, Markwood Surface, George Surface, Rebecca Sousley, Elynor Steele, Donald Surface and Shirley Smith.

Norma worked as the education department secretary for Marion College for two years. She also was the computer entry manager for the World Missions of the Wesleyan Church for 15 years. She was born and raised in Indiana and moved to Galesburg, Illinois, in 2000. She graduated from Warren High School, Warren, in 1951 and attended Marion College for a year.

Norma was a member of Hope Wesleyan Church, Galesburg. She was very active in church ministry all her life and had held numerous offices in the Wesleyan Women Groups in Indiana. Norma’s true passion was teaching young children the importance of missionary work and serving the Lord. She enjoyed participating with the New Horizons and was the site council chairperson.

A celebration of Norma’s life is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Home, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, Indiana, 46933. Visitation will be 9:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday at the chapel. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery in Fairmount. Memorials may be made to the Global Partners, P.O.
