Marion man arrested in stabbing in LaGrange County

BY Elkhart Truth Staff - newsroom@elkharttruth.com

LAGRANGE — A Marion man was arrested and a LaGrange man was taken to the hospital after a fight led to a stabbing, according to a news release from the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies and officers with the Indiana Conservation Department were called to the 6200 block of East C.R. 200S, LaGrange, about 4:35 p.m. Saturday, the release said.

Stanley Myers, 70, of LaGrange, and Wes Wilson Weinberg, 36, of Marion were involved in a verbal altercation, which escalated into a fight when Weinberg stabbed Myers in the shoulder/upper back area of his body with a fixed-blade hunting knife, police said.

“Myers sustained a deep puncture wound and lost a considerable amount of blood as a result of this attack,” the report said.

Weinberg later turned himself into the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department. He was arrested on a preliminary change of aggravated battery, a Level 3 Felony.

Assisting in the investigation was the LaGrange Police Department. The case remains under investigation, the report said.
