Eagles roll past Bruins for CIC win

Taylor Westgate led three players in double figures with 22 points Saturday and Class 2A second-ranked Oak Hill flexed its defensive mite once again to defeat Blackford 74-16 in Central Indiana Conference girls’ basketball play.

The Eagles limited Blackford to five points in the opening half and 12 percent field goal shooting (4-of-31). After one quarter they led 19-2 and extended it to 47-5 at halftime and 61-8 after three quarters.

Adrianna Trexler added 14 points, Marissa Wilk 10 points and Oak Hill shot 58 percent from the field (34-of-58). Trexler also had six rebounds.

Oak Hill (14-2) plays Wednesday at Class 3A top-ranked Northwestern, the defending state champions.


Eagles win Peru Super Six

The Golden Eagles improved to 18-0 Saturday after defeating five teams and won the Peru Super Six tournament.

Oak Hill posted wins over Kokomo (62-16), Peru (54-15), Norwell (56-16, Hamilton Heights (53-17 and Angola (64-10).

for the season and finished in first place among the six teams with a 5-0 record.

Finishing with 5-0 records for Oak Hill were: Bhupesh Chauhan (126), Gage Kelly (132), Bradley Rosman (182), Stewart Mossholder (195) and Travis Dowling (285).

 Tyler Miller (138) finished with a 4-0 record.

Aidan Hardcastle (120) and Jett Thompson (160) each finished with a 4-1 record.

Giants’ Elliott, Williams 3-0 at JV meet

Marion wrestlers Nicholas Elliott and Jekwan Williams each finished 3-0 Saturday at the Northfield JV tournament.

Taylor Garriott was 2-1 while Abdi Steenbergh, Keller Lootens and Marcus Bounds were 1-2.

The Marion varsity wrestles at home Thursday against Logansport.
