In a story published Aug. 14 titled “Students connect Grant County to Underground Railroad,” we failed to make note that the research project involving Taylor University students and Indiana Welseyan University professor Kersten Priest was made possible by a grant obtained by Taylor professor Bob Priest, Kersten Priest’s husband. the grant totaled $14,000. Bob Priest, who teaches anthropology, was a co-researcher on the project with his wife and the students. Their research focused on the first 100 years of history in Grant County, especially involving a pre-Civil War black settlement called Weaver.
