Cowgill additionally charged with battery

In addition to operating while intoxicated, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, Marion firefighter Chance E. Cowgill has been charged with domestic battery in the presence of a minor, a Level 6 felony, according to court documents.

Gas City officers responded to a disturbance call early Saturday morning after Cowgill reportedly got into an argument with his girlfriend and broke down a door which allegedly hit her in the face in the process, according to reports.

Police reports state that a child at the residence saw Cowgill break the door.

Jonesboro dispatch joins Sheriff's Department

The Jonesboro Police and Fire departments will be switching emergency dispatch centers next week.

The departments will begin to be dispatched through the Grant County Sheriff's Department as of Nov. 12. From then on, individuals needing non-emergency police and fire assistance can call the sheriff's dispatch at 765-668-8168.

This will not affect the 911 system.
