Guilty plea filed in murder case

A Gas City man filed a guilty plea to one count of murder and one count of attempted murder, a Level 1 felony, according to a plea agreement filed in Grant County Superior Court 1 on Wednesday.

Eric Dean Jordan, 21, is accused of allegedly killing Ethan Wolff by stabbing him multiple times in the chest and abdomen around Oct. 30, 2018, according to court documents. Records further allege Jordan stole property from Ethan and/or Austin Wolff and reportedly stabbed Austin Wolff with a knife in his lower back.

The plea agreement states all other counts will be dismissed as a result of the change in plea.

The agreement also states the court may impose a sentence it deems appropriate, but that the sentences for both counts will be served concurrently.

The state will not make a sentencing recommendation, but the victim of the attempted murder charge and next of kin for the murder charge may make recommendations at the sentencing hearing, according to the plea agreement.

The court can accept or reject the plea deal, and the suspect can withdraw the plea deal up until sentencing. All suspects are presumed innocent until convicted in court.

A jury trial was scheduled to begin Friday, but instead a sentencing hearing has been scheduled for Dec. 20 at 1:15 p.m.
