A Gas City man has been charged with six counts pertaining to sexual misconduct with a minor.

According to court records, Lance Ivan Sutton, 28, is being charged with child solicitation, a Level 5 felony, child exploitation, a Level 5 felony, attempted child exploitation, a Level 5 felony, vicarious sexual gratification, a Level 5 felony, failure to register as a sex or violent offender, a Level 5 felony, and possession of child pornography, a Level 6 felony.

Sutton was initially arrested by the Grant County Sheriff’s Department on Sept. 28 for a probation violation warrant related to a 2014 child molestation case, according to a probable cause affidavit filed Oct. 30.

On Oct. 3, an acquaintance of Sutton’s turned a cell phone over to the authorities that contained explicit content involving four Grant County juveniles, according to court records.

According to the affidavit, Sutton interacted with the victims on social media, going by the name “Josh.”

Sutton would reportedly ask the victims to send him explicit content and asked three of the four to have sex with him, according to the affidavit.

One victim told officers that Sutton would ask to video chat with them and he would be doing inappropriate acts when they did video chat, according to reports.

The affidavit states that the cell phone contained indicators that each victim disclosed their age to Sutton.

Sutton told detectives that he knew the content and conversations with the juveniles was wrong, according to the affidavit.

The affidavit also states that Sutton said he never had any physical contact with the victims.

Court records indicate that in May of 2018, Sutton was convicted on three counts of child molestation, all Class C felonies.

He received a sentence of six years, with nearly five years suspended and served on formal, supervised probation.

As a part of his sentence, Sutton was also supposed to register as a sex offender, according to court records.

The court did not find Sutton to be a sexually violent predator, court documents state.

According to court records, Sutton was also charged with failure to register as a sex or violent offender, a Level 6 felony.

He was sentenced to two years that were suspended and served on formal, supervised probation.

As a result of the alleged probation violations, officials with the Grant County Probation Department have petitioned to revoke his probation.

He was being held in the Grant County Jail on a $102,510 bond as of Monday evening.
