WIWU-TV returns on new channel

WIWU-TV is back on the air and has moved from channel 51.1 to 28.1. The station said in a release that viewers using antennas should rescan their televisions immediately to receive the new channel. Spectrum and other cable customers should be able to receive the new signal at their usual channel designation, officials said. The staff of WIWU-TV said they appreciate the public’s patience through this delay.

The station was temporarily taken off the air for FCC-mandated upgrades in a move that was unrelated to Indiana Wesleyan University’s announced plans to transition the station to online streaming in the coming months.

3 men fleeing police die when car crashes into semitrailer

GARY (AP) — Three males have died after they fled a police stop and their car crashed into a semitrailer.

Lake County Sheriff’s Police say officers had pulled the car over shortly before 3 a.m. Friday but while officers were talking to the three, the vehicle fled the scene at a high rate of speed. Officers lost sight of the car but moments later found it had struck the semitrailer.

Two of the males were pronounced dead at the scene. The Lake County Coroner’s Office identified them as 18-year-old Ramzy Clark of Gary and 19-year-old Elijah Faulkner of Hobart.
