USA basketball at Marion HS

Marion High School is one of just seven places in the nation that will host a USA Basketball Open Court this year. Open Court in Bill Green Arena will be held on Sundays starting on August 11 and running through November 3.  

Sessions at Marion are free to participate and open to boys and girls from any school system. Participants will need a guardian to sign a waiver form available at check in on Sundays.

The schedule for this year’s Open Court is as follows: 6 to 9 year olds will hold court from 1 to 2 p.m., 10 to 12 year olds go from 2 to 4 p.m. and 13 to 17 year olds play from 4 to 6 p.m.

Marion to presale Eastbrook football tickets

Marion High School will put tickets for the its opening football game against Eastbrook on sale beginning Monday, August 19 in the MHS Athletic office.

Tickets at $6 and all seats are general admission. 

The Giants will host the Panthers in the historic first regular-season meeting between the two programs on Friday, August 23 at 7 p.m.

Gates at Dick Lootens stadium will open at 5:30 p.m.

Giant passes on sale

The 2019-2020 All-Season, All-Sport Marion Community Schools Athletic Pass and the Giant Pass are on sale in the MHS Athletic Department from 9 to 11:00 a.m. and from 1 to 3 p.m. on school days.

The Marion Community Schools Athletic Pass allows entry into all regular season home events for all sports at Marion High School, McCulloch Junior High School and Justice Intermediate School for the entire year.

The Giant Pass allows entry into all regular season home events for all sports at Marion High School for the entire year. (Note: IHSAA post-season events, conference tournaments and the boys basketball scrimmage are sold separately)

Boys Basketball season tickets are included with the Marion Community Schools Athletic Pass and the Giant Pass and will be distributed at a later date. Boys basketball season tickets are $66 (if purchased separately) for 12 home games.

Marion Community Schools Athletic Pass (Family) is $300

Giant Pass cost is as follows: Family - $225; Adult - $90; Adult Senior (60+ yrs) - $80; Student (6th grade and under) - $25.

Marion Community School Students Grades 7-12 will receive free admission with valid MCS ID.

Regular season general admission will be $6.

Boys and Girls Club Legends Dinner

The Boys and Girls Club of Grant County will be hosting its annual Legends Dinner and Auction from 6 to 9 p.m. on August 22 at the Roseburg Event Center. 

Feature guest speaker for the evening will be Nathan Harmon, who was the top booked school speaker during 2017-18 and shared his story in more than 430 schools nationwide. Harmon’s message is “Your Life Speaks,” and he will tell his story of dealing with peer pressures, bullying, mental health, overcoming adversity and the power of good choices.

Cost to attend the event is $100 per person, $800 for a table sponsorship or $2,500 to be an event sponsor.

Sherrod Foundation scholarship scramble

The Acts of Faith: Sherrod Foundation will hold its 12th-annual golf experience on August 24 at Arbor Trace Golf Club.

This year’s format will be a two-person scramble and will start at 1 p.m. Prizes for the top two teams as well as longest drive, longest putt and closest to the pin will be awarded.

Entry fee is $50 per individual or $100 per team. Checks should be made payable to the AOF Sherrod Foundation or payment can be made through PayPal using sherrodfoundation@yahoo.com email address. Different levels of sponsorships are also available: Gold Sponsor for $300, comes with business sign and special recognition at the first or 18th hole; Silver Sponsor in $200, comes with sign and special recognition at the second or 17th hole; Bronze Sponsor, comes with signs on various holes.

Donations of money, door prizes, food, snacks and beverages are also being accepted.

Oak Hill ticket information

Oak Hill athletic passes for the upcoming school year are on sale in the high school office from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tickets also can be purchased online at www.ohathletics.com.

Current card holders will not need to come in to the office if purchasing online. Passes will be reactivated for the 2019-20 season. New passes or those that lost their cards can be picked up at the high school office, or they will be mailed if purchased online.

Golden Eagle All Sports Passes are adults $80, Students $60 and senior citizens (age 60 and over) $60. A Golden Eagle Family Pass (immediate family only; parent(s) and school age (K-12) children) is available for purchase for $275.00. All Sports Passes are good for all home high school events with the exception of Grant 4, Central Indiana Conference and IHSAA tournament events. A reserved boys’ basketball season ticket will be issued with no additional cost to any “All Sports Pass” holder.

The Ten Event Pass is good for one admittance for any high school or junior high athletic event with the exception of Grant 4, CIC or IHSAA events. Cos is adult $42, student $36 and senior citizen $36.

General Admission price for varsity football, soccer and volleyball is $5. Junior varsity/freshmen and junior high event tickets are $4.
