Helen Marie Rademaker Feb. 24, 1927-July 6, 2019

Helen Marie Rademaker passed away at home on July 6, 2019. She was the youngest of three daughters born to Anthony F. and Betty (Mills) Hennigin. She remained close to her sisters, Mary Ellen Cowan and Katie (Norman) West, until their death.

After graduating from Marion High School, Helen worked briefly as a dry cleaning assistant, dental assistant and ventured out to D. C. and worked in the Washington government circuit. She married Joseph F. Rademaker in 1949 and together they had seven children. Except for a brief period Joe and Helen lived most of their 53 years together in the home they built (and added on to multiple times!) in Marion. She was a dedicated mother with an unwavering faith in God. She instilled in her children the importance of family and generosity to others. She especially loved her role as Grandma and Nana. Besides family she enjoyed her euchre club and working crossword puzzles. Helen’s wit was undeniable. Her children and grandchildren quickly learned that her many one-liners, while humorous, often held an underlying life lesson.

Helen is survived by six children, Cindy M. (Jason) Spencer, Upland; Maureen A. (James) Finch, Sacramento; Stephen P. (Ann) Rademaker, Fort Wayne; Tom A. (Linda) Rademaker, Swayzee; Mike J. Rademaker, Marion; Tim E. Rademaker, Franklin; 17 grandchildren, Kelly (Anthony) Bruns, Neal (Cassie) Fenstermaker, Rachael Fenstermaker, Clint (Ryan) Fenstermaker, Kevin (Kami) Fenstermaker, Sam Spencer, Ben (Lyndsey) Spencer, Zach Spencer, James Finch, Alex (Carrie) Finch, Brad (Amy) Spurling, Kyle Spurling, April (Justin) Rademaker, Nic (Buffy) Rademaker, Nolan (Andrea) Rademaker, Jacob (Trista) Rademaker and Cody Rademaker; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and sisters, Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Rademaker, Sr., her son, Joseph F. Rademaker, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Lois Rademaker.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2019 in the narthex at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1031 West Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
