Police: Stabbing results in minor injuries

BY Staff Reports - ctreport@indy.rr.com

Police say a Tuesday morning stabbing morning resulted in minor injuries.

The victim, Jared Phillips, 34, of Marion, reportedly told police his brother stabbed him in the throat after “a verbal argument which eventually turned physical,”  Marion Police Department Capt. Stephen Dorsey said in a statement.

The fight occurred in the 1700 block of West 14th Street.

Phillips said his brother hit him and spit on him before grabbing his neck and pulling Phillips toward him.

The victim didn’t realize he had been stabbed until he felt blood on his stomach, Dorsey said.

The victim described the knife used to stab him as a silver Smith & Wesson metal folding knife.

Dorsey said Phillips’ minor cut to his neck was a non-life-threatening injury. Phillips was able to walk to Marion Green Apartments before calling police at 2:21 a.m. Tuesday.

Police are searching for Phillips’ brother.
