Local man charged in 2014 case

BY Samantha Oyler - soyler@chronicle-tribune.com

A Marion man was charged with burglary, armed robbery, sexual battery and rape on Monday, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Demondre Lemar Tipler, 29, has an initial hearing scheduled for 8:15 a.m. today.

The affidavit states that the victim called investigators around May 1, 2019 to know the status of the investigation and advised Tipler was incarcerated in the Grant County Jail.

Although Tipler was charged recently, the initial incident took place five years ago.

On November 30, 2014, officers went to talk to the victim at MGH where she was being treated.

The victim stated that three men came to her house, where they had a few drinks and left, according to the affidavit.

At about 4:30 a.m., police say she was awakened by Tipler, who had a gun and demanded she give him her money.

After taking her money, the suspect made the victim do inappropriate things and used the chord of a flat iron to lock her in a closet, according to the affidavit.

Police say the suspect stole her phone and car.

The victim was able to identify Tipler in a lineup and describe the gun.
