William 'Bill' Lester Oct. 21, 1941 - June 6, 2019

William “Bill” Lester, 77, Marion, passed away at 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at Colonial Oaks Health Care Center in Marion. He was born in Maysville, Kentucky, on October 21, 1941, to the late Floyd and Edith (Stanley) Lester.

Bill attended Orangeburg High School and retired from Midwest Grain Product in Atchison, Kansas, where he worked in the maintenance department. He enjoyed oil painting, as well as drawing. He loved movies and collected anything and everything to do with John Wayne. He was introduced to kayaking by his son and absolutely fell in love with it. He also enjoyed mowing and doing yard work.

Bill will be remembered and missed for his sense of humor and long, engaging conversations about politics, religion, and history, as well as his great “ghost” stories. He could talk for hours about mysteries and “the unexplained”. He was truly a great teller of stories.

He is survived by his son, Joe Lester; daughters, Kathy Kelly and Jodi Austin; grandson, Brandon Kelly; and 4 great-grandchildren.

The family will have a memorial visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. with Bill’s memorial service beginning at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 10, 2019, at Integrity Funeral Care, 2901 S. Washington St., Marion, IN. Chaplain Randy Thornburg will be officiating.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Marion-Grant County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1921, Marion, IN 46952.
